It’s another change, but it’s a great change! Starting Tuesday, September 8, 2020, meals for ALL USD 230 students will be free (on-site, optional remote, and remote students). This federally-funded food program will remain in effect until the federal funds run out.* Once the funds are depleted we will return to charging meals based on payor status (free/reduced/paid). You will be notified before meals are charged again.

*One important note, over the summer we had community members register for meals, but not pick them up. Our district does not get reimbursed for meals if they are not distributed to a child and recorded by name. We are pleased to offer this program, however, we need our participants to register AND pick up their meals each week.

What you need to know for Optional Remote and Remote Students:

  • Optional remote and remote students MUST be registered for meals before distribution day. REGISTER HERE - the registration form closes at 7 pm the day before distribution.

  • A new registration form will be available the afternoon of distribution day to sign-up for the next week. We will share reminders to register by email and social media.

  • All meals for optional remote and remote students will be provided on Mondays (except for the first distribution during Labor Day week which is a Tuesday distribution) at three sites. All meals for the week will be distributed on one day.

    • Spring Hill High School, 12 - 1 pm (around the north end of the building in the back staff parking lot)

    • Woodland Spring Middle School, 12-1 pm (utilize either car loop near the main entrance)

    • Spring Hill Middle School, 12 -1 pm (CHANGE - utilize the south entrance loop)

  • Please stay in your vehicle, and when you pull up staff will take your student’s name and distribute the meals. To save time, please have your meal registration confirmation email on your phone screen to show staff.

  • Meals must be canceled by 9:00 am on distribution day by calling (913) 592-7283.

  • Please continue to apply for free and reduced meals in preparation for the end of this free program. Applications may be found at this link.

What you need to know for On-Site Students:

  • Students will be served meals in the school cafeteria as they have been each day. The student's account will reflect a $0 charge for meals.

  • A la carte items (extra milk, $0.55) will be charged to the student’s account. Please keep a balance in your student’s account if they plan to purchase a la carte items.

  • Please continue to apply for free and reduced meals in preparation for the end of this free program. Applications may be found at this link.

Please contact the Nutrition Services Department with any questions, (913) 592-7283.
