March 20 COVID-19 Update

USD 230 Families-

We are wrapping up what has been an unexpected and challenging week for everyone - not the Spring Break anyone had planned. I hope during this time you and your family are taking care of your physical and mental health. 

We understand the news of building closures and changes to the school year has been difficult. We know the importance of life events such as Kindergarten Round-Up, Prom, Graduation, etc. to our families. Currently, these events are postponed. Once we are given the approval to be back in buildings, we will try our best to reschedule.

 

Yesterday we launched web pages dedicated to the school closure due to COVID-19. This will be your resource for all items related to the closure, such as meals, community resources, FAQs, educational resources and more.

 

Below you will find an update on a few important topics for next week.

 

Meals

Beginning Tuesday, March 24, 2020, meals will be available to all children ages 1-18 at four drive-up locations: Spring Hill Elementary School, Timber Sage Elementary School, Woodland Spring Middle School, and the Spring Hill Civic Center. Each lunch will come with breakfast for the next day. It is our priority to feed all children in need, though not required, to reduce food waste and prepare enough meals, please preorder a meal to pick up the following day. The meal form will be posted for the next day by 5 pm on our Meal Request webpage.

 

District Buildings

All district buildings (and playgrounds) are closed to the public and external doors will remain locked at all times. Please do not come to a building to speak with a staff member. We are dedicated to protecting the health of our staff and families and will be abiding by the regulations set forth by the city, county, and state. 

 

Beginning Monday, March 23, 2020, if you have questions:

1) First, check the district website - subpages and questions/answers will be added to this resource frequently.

Community Health

Johnson County Department of Health and Environment launched a new community COVID-10 hotline. The community can call (913) 715-2819 between 7 am - 6 pm, Monday - Friday to ask general COVID-19 health-related questions, including when to seek medical attention. Thank you to all the county school nurses for helping staff this hotline!
