SHHS Theatre Department Presents

Urinetown, The Musical

The very clean musical with a not so clean title.

The Theatre Department is very excited to present this modern, award-winning, musical satire November 9-11.

In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year drought, has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity's most basic needs. Amid the people, a hero decides that he's had enough and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom!

Inspired by the works of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, Urinetown is an irreverently humorous satire in which no one is safe from scrutiny. Praised for reinvigorating the very notion of what a musical could be, Urinetown catapults the "comedic romp" into the new millennium with its outrageous perspective, wickedly modern wit and ability to make audiences think about society, themselves, and theatre itself all between their laughs.

Don’t judge a musical by its tacky title and make plans to see Spring Hill High School’s production of this powerful musical November 9th11th at 7:00pm.  Tickets are general admission, cost $8, and are available at the door the night of each performance.

This show is rated PG and is appropriate for ages 10 and up.
